SUBANG JAYA, MALAYSIA: Three police constables were arrested yesterday in Serdang in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old Indonesian girl.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said a remand order would be sought against them today.

It is learnt that the constables, aged between 22 and 26, are attached to the Serdang police station. The rape is alleged to have taken place at the home of one of the constables in Serdang.

Although it has not been ascertained how many men actually raped the victim, Khalid said all three constables were picked up as part of initial investigations.

It is understood that one of the constables had befriended the Indonesian girl several weeks ago and they had been dating. On Wednesday, the constable allegedly invited the Indonesian girl back to his home about 3am where she was raped.

It is also learnt that the Indonesian girl does not have any proper travel documents and was considered an illegal immigrant.

It is understood that she will be handed over to the Immigration Department once the case has been resolved.
