GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia: An argument over household chores between an Indonesian maid and her female employer evolved into a catfight, resulting in them biting each other.
The 32-year-old maid fled the house in Changkat Minden, Gelugor and sought shelter at the Indonesian Consulate in Burma Road.
Police were called in to investigate the matter at about 3.30pm on Wednesday before the maid was taken to the Penang Hospital where a medical check-up confirmed that the injuries were consistent with bite marks.
The employer, 40, also lodged a police report over the matter, claiming that she had been bitten in the arms by the maid.
She also sought medical treatment at the hospital where doctors too, found, bite marks on her arms.
It is learnt that the maid had earlier been embroiled in an argument with her employer over household chores before the alleged catfight took place.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid said no arrest has been made over the incident.
He said initial investigations revealed there was no visible body injuries, except for bite marks on both arms of the employer and the maid.
"We are still investigating what triggered off the argument. But investigations showed that a few arguments had taken place prior to this fight," he said.
ACP Azam urged employers with maids to contain their emotions without resorting to violence.
"If you are not satisfied with their work or attitude, ask for a new one from the agent," he said. The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt. -The Star/ANN
