Two fined for bribery

A BUSINESSMAN who gave bribes to a senior technician of a shopping mall was fined $6,000 on Friday.

The technician, Mohamed Shadan Abu Bakar, 39, was fined $13,000 and ordered to pay a penalty of $3,300 in the same court after he admitted to three corruption charges.

Seah Chee Yon, 41, managing director of Huang Kee Building Maintenance, admitted to two charges of giving $1,000 to Shadan at Tampines Mall in 2004 to be lenient in his supervision of building maintenance work carried out by the company at the mall.
