MALACCA, Malaysia: It took two men, both armed with a pistol each, only a few minutes to escape with jewellery worth about RM600,000 (S$244,800) from a goldsmith shop in Jalan Bunga Raya, here, yesterday.
In the 10am incident, the pair, both wearing baseball caps and with their faces covered with handkerchiefs, entered the shop and demanded at gunpoint that the owner hand over trays of jewellery.
State Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Salehhudin Abd Rahman said one of the robbers had a gun pointed at the owner of the shop, who was in his 40s.
"The owner quickly removed the jewellery and handed it over."
He urged anyone with any information to contact investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Lee Chen Shim at 06-2838338 or to contact the nearest police station. -NST
