Midwife admits morphine rap

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - A 50-year-old midwife was fined RM1,000 or two months' jail by the magistrate's court yesterday for injecting herself with morphine.

Nooraizan Abd Latif, of Pantai Baru, was also fined RM2,000 or two months' jail for possessing two grammes of morphine. She pleaded guilty to committing both offences at Old Klang Road at 3.15pm on Oct 7 last year.

Magistrate Siti Hafiza Jaafar also ordered Nooraizan to be placed under observation by the National Anti Drug Agency for two years.

She had undergone traditional treatment for her drug addiction and was cured.
