GEORGE TOWN, MALAYSIA - A 25-year-old auditor was seriously injured after she was kicked off her motorcycle during a snatch theft at the flyover connecting Hamilton Road and Lorong Batu Lanchang here.

The victim, known only as Ho, sustained swelling to her head and cuts on both her right hand and legs during the 8pm incident on Wednesday.

In the incident, Ho was heading towards her home in Bandar Baru Air Itam after work when a motorcyclist came up alongside her and snatched her handbag, which had been placed in her vehicle's basket.

Ho, who had fainted on the spot, was later sent by the Civil Defence Department to the Penang Hospital.

Her sister, who did not want to be named, believed that the thief had tailed Ho for some time before snatching her bag.

"He came from behind to grab the handbag. Fearing that my sister would give chase, he then kicked her. I believe she lost between RM100 (S$41) and RM200," she said when met at the hospital.
