JERTIH, MALAYSIA - Five armed men, not only robbed the family of Besut district council chairman, but spent almost an hour enjoying drinks and snacks in the kitchen of the house before escaping.
One of them even defecated in one area of the house in Kampung Alur Lintang here.
The men, believed to be foreigners, escaped with jewellery worth RM15,000, six handphones, watches and RM600 in cash.
The robbery took place at 3am yesterday when council chairman Wan Mustaffa Wan Hassan's family was fast asleep. Mustaffa was not around as he was overseas.
Besut district police chief Superintendent Kamaruddin Mohd Zakaria said the robbers climbed over the back fencing and cut open the side-door grill.
Mustaffa's son, Wan Mohd Zulfadhil, 27, woke up upon hearing noises. He went to the hall to check and was confronted by the robbers, one of whom placed a knife to his neck.
He put up a struggle and was slightly wounded. The robbers then tied him up, along with his two younger siblings.
Their mother, Dasimah Aini Harun, 52, was left alone after the siblings pleaded with the robbers not to harm her as she was sick.
All four were then herded into a room and guarded by one of the robbers.
Kamaruddin said based on Mohd's description, the robbers were believed to be Indonesians, aged between 25 and 40.
Police have mounted a manhunt for the robbers.
