JOHOR BARU: Police here have detained a snatch thief believed to be responsible for more than 25 cases in Kulai Jaya and four buyers of the stolen items.

The 36-year-old suspect was picked up in Kulai on Thursday and his arrest led police to the buyers.

Various stolen items, which include five mobile phones, two MyKad, three credit cards and gold jewellery were recovered from the suspect.

Kulai Jaya OCPD Supt Zulkefly Yah-ya said police also seized a knife, a hammer and a motorcycle used by the suspect in his criminal activities.

He also advised the public not to buy any item from people they did not know.

He said police have also busted a motorcycle theft gang following the arrests of five men along with the seizure of eight stolen motorcycles.

Supt Zulkefly said the suspects were arrested in multiple raids in Felda Bukit Batu on Tuesday.

"This gang will steal motorcycles and sell it to individuals between RM200 (S$82) and RM500 each," he said.

He urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or the nearest police station.
