TAIPEI, Taiwan - A Taipei man was indicted yesterday on a charge of sexual assault resulting in bodily injuries to a female gas station attendant on July 3. The man, Tang Wei-ying, 56, claimed that it was in fact an accident, saying that he slipped because of the pain caused by corns on his feet.
Tang said he was waiting for the female attendant to fill up his car and he gradually became impatient and dissatisfied with the slow service. Tang then pulled his car over to the next lane and pushed the server away, which caused bruises on the attendant's chest.
Tang later claimed the push was because the attendant ignored his complaints and said that the harm was unintentional. He explained to the police that the incident occurred because he felt too much pain from his corns to stand firmly.
However, the female prosecutor rejected his claims and insisted on indicting him, saying that she has also suffered from pain from corns. Corns are the thickened areas of skin, which do not affect the way people walk, she said.
Furthermore, the prosecutor found proof from the station surveillance camera showing Tang standing firmly with his hands on his waists while arguing with the attendant, showing no signs of suffering from foot pain.
