PETALING JAYA - Thieves broke into a house believed to be owned by a minister's relative and got away with around $124,000 worth of loot.

No one was injured in the incident which occurred at Jalan SS3/26 between 11am and noon yesterday. The home was not occupied at that time.

According to sources, the thieves broke into the house when the owner, a 70-year-old woman had gone to the post-office with her maid.

"When they returned, they were shocked to find the house in a mess.

"The backdoor had been forced open and the safe in the master bedroom had been broken into," said the source.

This was the second time the house had been broken into, claimed the source.

The elderly woman is believed to be staying with her two grandchildren and two maids.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed confirmed the incident and said police were investigating the case.
