KUANTAN, MALAYSIA: A 17-year-old security guard who refused to co-operate with a group of robbers was locked in a toilet for more than five hours.

The guard, who worked with the Felda Sertik office, near Karak, was approached by five men at about 1am on Wednesday who demanded that he opened a safe in the office.

When he refused, he was tied up and pushed into the toilet, state CID officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Noor Asyikin Shamsuri said yesterday.

The robbers then tried to open the safe with a hammer, a hoe and parang before fleeing empty-handed.

ASP Noor Asyikin said the guard freed himself and contacted his employer before lodged a report at the Bentong police station.

The case is being investigated under Section 303 of the Penal Code.
