MALACCA, Malaysia: Police here have crippled the Gang Budget Hotel following the arrest of two gang members on Sunday.

The gang targeted budget hotels and was believed to have been responsible for eight robberies here over the last month, said Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Salehhudin Abd Rahman.

The gang of four usually operated in pairs and robbed the hotels in the wee hours of morning before making off with cash on their motorcycles.

The gang had robbed Malim Inn Hotel in Malim at about 3.30am on Nov 29, before robbing the Gold Leaf Hotel along Jalan Kee Ann.

However, one of them was arrested when the gang was in the midst of robbing Semabok Inn in Semabok about an hour later, he told reporters at his office here yesterday.

Following the arrest, another gang member was picked up from his home in the city.

ACP Salehhudin said police also recovered RM3,950, a watch, handphone, a knife and computer monitor.

He said both suspects, age 19 and 22, would be remanded until Dec 5 for further investigations.

Police are looking for two other suspects, Norhamdan Mohd Alip, 29, from Alai, and Mohd Fadlan Mohd Yusof, 22, from Kandang.
