HAJJAH Saminah, a 15-month-old baby, was finally found at an Internet cafe in Kalideres area in West Jakarta on Thursday, less than 24 hours after a woman took her away from Tangerang General Hospital.

Tangerang police detective chief for general crimes Comr. Ari Ardian Rishadi said the baby was left unattended at the Internet cafe.

"This morning we received a report that a baby was left at Pratama Internet cafe in Kalideres and later we reunited the baby with her mother," he said.

The police had been searching the hospital to locate the baby after Billah, a resident of Jengkol subdistrict, Kresek district in Tangerang regency reported the abduction of her baby on Wednesday.

The crime took place when Billah was visiting her husband Samnawi, who was treated at the hospital for suffering TB. A woman who introduced herself as Lia offered to calm Saminah who was crying, although Billah had given the baby to Sarno, whom she hired to baby sit her daughter.

Holding the baby, Lia told Sarno she would buy a balloon outside to appease Saminah. Lia, however, never came back.

From CCTV video recordings, the police identified the suspected abductor as a 17-year-old resident of Balaraja district in Tangerang. She was seen wearing a Muslim veil.

The suspect has remained at large, preventing the police from finding the motive behind the abduction.
