New Straits Times

JOHOR BARU - The High Court yesterday sentenced three people, including two siblings, to 12 years' jail each for causing the death of a 17-year-old youth in 2008.

Nurkhairul Azman Musa, 21, and his brother Nurkhairul Naj'im, 22, and their friend Mohd Ridzuan M. Razali, 20, pleaded guilty to culpable homicide not amounting to murder of Mohamad Helmi Takiman at a road junction near the Jamek Mosque of Taman Cendana in Pasir Gudang on March 18, 2008.

They were initially charged with murder but judicial commissioner M. Gunalan amended the charge on Tuesday. Helmi died as a result of a fight over a stolen RM100 (S$42).

The accused were ordered to serve their sentences from the date of their arrest.
