Foreigners grab $165k from supermart safe

MANJUNG, Malaysia - Police are hot on the heels of three foreigners who fled after stealing RM400,000 (S$164, 600) from supermarket's safe box, here on Tuesday.

Manjung district acting police chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Mat Isa said suspects have been identified as two Vietnamese and a Thai national, he said.

"The suspects were believed to have entered the supermarket through the roof of the hotel.

"They drilled a hole in one of the safe boxes which contained the sales from three days," he said yesterday.

Ahmad added that the suspects managed to drill into only one of the three safe boxes and escaped with RM425,000.

He said following checks, police recovered the drill as well as the clothes worn by the suspects inside the supermarket safe room.

Ahmad urged those with information to contact the nearest police station.
