Doctor charged with molesting nurse

A Sri Lankan doctor was charged in court yesterday with molesting a nurse at an operating theatre on three occasions.

Senaka Liyanage, 36, allegedly touched the buttocks of the 26-year-old inside the operating theatre at Changi General Hospital between 11am and noon on April 5, reported The Straits Times.

He is accused of touching her on a second occasion, and a third time at about 2pm.

The specialist works in the hospital's anaesthesia and surgical intensive care department.

If convicted, he can be jailed for up to two years, fined, caned or receive any combination of the sentences.
