$4,000 heist at goldsmith shop

KLANG - Five men armed with machetes, hammers and an object believed to be a pistol, robbed a goldsmith shop in a supermarket at Kampung Jawa.

The robbers escaped with RM10,000 (S$4,020) worth of gold in the 11.53am robbery. The store did not have any security guards.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mat Yusop said the robbers smashed the glass display cabinet to get the gold items.

"However, by the time police arrived, the robbers have escaped in a car, which was reported stolen in Shah Alam on Tuesday night," he said yesterday.
