JOHOR BARU, Malaysia: A 29-year-old beauty parlour owner has been remanded for questioning for the distribution of a sex video recording of former health minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
She was produced at the Batu Pahat magistrate's court yesterday after being picked up at her beauty parlour in Batu Pahat at 2.30pm on Thursday.
State police chief Datuk Hussin Ismail said police also seized a DVD and three VCDs containing the sex recording and a laptop.
Speaking to reporters after officiating the promotion ceremony for rank and file officers of the Johor police contingent here yesterday, Hussin said: "We are investigating how the woman obtained the recordings and who is behind it.
"This is part of the ongoing investigation into the video recording that Johor police is conducting with the assistance of Bukit Aman federal police headquarters."
Hussin confirmed that a forensic team from Bukit Aman had carried out investigations at a hotel in Batu Pahat where the obscene video is believed to have been recorded.
He said police had also recorded a statement from Dr Chua regarding the case but refused to say where and when this was done.
Hussin would not say if the woman featured in the recording with Dr Chua had been identified and questioned but he said that the woman picked up in Batu Pahat was not the woman in the recording.
When pressed for more details on police investigations he said: "All I can say is we are conducting the investigations from all angles and will leave no stone unturned."
Meanwhile, Hussin said anyone in possession of the obscene recordings should surrender them to the police as action could be taken against those found in possession of it.
