>KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: There are no secret baggage checks at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad senior general manager (operation services) Datuk Azmi Murad said this was not conducted at KLIA.
"We do not have secret baggage checks. Once the baggage arrives, it is transferred immediately by the ground handlers to the tractors which take them straight to the arrival hall for collection," he said.
Secret baggage checks are conducted in the United States due to the increasing security threat such as terrorism.
Azmi said if passengers discovered that their bags had been tampered with, they should immediately report it to the airline or consult the airport authorities.
Azmi was commenting on a complaint in the New Straits Times Letters To The Editor column by Richard Low who claimed that his baggage was checked by the airport staff without his knowledge.
Low said his expensive sunglasses had gone missing after the checks were conducted at KLIA.
