PENANG, MALAYSIA: If a man finds a good wife, he should hold on to her. Similarly, if the people have a good government, they should continue to support it.
This is the opinion of Wanita MCA chief Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen.
"Why risk making a change?"
She said that the country also offered the cheapest petrol after Brunei and Saudi Arabia and health care services at minimal cost.
"Where in the world can one find public hospitals charging RM1 per patient for outpatient treatment?" she asked when opening the Taman Lip Sin operation centre for MCA's Bayan Baru parliamentary candidate Ooi Siew Kim yesterday.
As for the date for polling day, Ng said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had honoured the country's women by choosing March 8 as it coincided with the International Women's Day.
"Instead of celebrating the occasion with feasts, we (women) should exercise our right and vote for a government which could keep the country peaceful and prosperous."
She said that MCA had increased its number of women candidates over the years from six in the 1999 general election to 12 in 2004 and 16 this time around.
Penang MCA has fielded four women, the highest number of female candidates in the country.
Ng, who is contesting the Raub parliamentary constituency in Pahang, said she was confident the 16 would win their seats.
