MALACCA, MALAYSIA: The MCA has found a novel way to drum up support for the Barisan Nasional - dancing its way into the hearts of voters.

Over the last few days, the MCA's line dancing troupe has been busy touring the country to spice up the party's campaign rounds and woo the crowds with energetic dances.

Even the lyrics of the troupe's accompanying music have been altered to carry the MCA's election message.

Among the 50-member troupe is 60-year-old Jojo Yio Bee Kim from Selangor.

The grandmother of two said she was delighted to be able do her bit for Barisan by hitting the campaign trail with the MCA's candidates.

"I don't feel tired at all travelling around to perform. In fact, I feel so happy and excited," she said.

The troupe has so far performed in Cameron Highlands, Gopeng, Ipoh and Tapah.

On Sunday night, 10 members from the troupe stopped over at Kota Melaka to entertain the more than 200 people who had gathered for a ceramah in Pengkalan Rama.

MCA Youth chairman Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said the troupe was part of the MCA Youth election task force's campaign tool.

"We also travel in convoys, distribute pamphlets and send SMSes to woo Chinese youths".

Also present were MCA candidates for Kota Melaka (Parliament) Wong Nai Chee and state seats of Kesidang, Datuk Koh Nai Kwong, and Kota Laksamana, Lee Kiat Lee.

Liow described Wong as an excellent Youth leader, and said the MCA was working as a team to provide services to the people in Kota Melaka.
