KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Two registered voters lodged police reports Saturday claiming that other people had already voted for them when they turned up at polling stations.

The two - identified as Tam Thin Chew, 76 and Gan Yen Sen, 49 - lodged police reports at the Petaling police station here.

Brickfields deputy OCPD Supt Azri Abdul Rahman said Tam went to the polling station at SK Seri Mega at 9am and was not allowed to vote after he checked his status with the Election Commission (EC). The EC officials informed him that someone had voted for him earlier that morning.

He said Gan also suffered the same faith when she went to the polling station in SK Bandar Baru Sri Petaling (I) at about 12.30pm.

Supt Azri informed that the reports would be investigated under Section 7 of the Election Act.

A special team from the city police headquarters has been formed to investigate reports on election irregularities.
