KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Two women joggers had the shock of their lives when what they thought was a cat carcass wrapped in white cloth in a plastic bag, at the Section 10 night market in Wangsa Maju, turned out to be a dead newborn baby.

Salekhul Ishak, 50, said she and her friend initially ignored the plastic bag by the roadside and continued to jog.

"When we returned to where the bag was, I used a branch to poke the plastic bag and was shocked to see tiny legs sticking out from the cloth," she said, adding that they immediately called the police.

City chief police officer Deputy Comm Datuk Muhamad Sabtu Osman said police had yet to ascertain the baby's race but initial investigations showed the baby was a few hours old.

The body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem
