PETALING JAYA: MALAYSIAN blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin could be released on Friday morning after his wife posted bail on Thursday.

The founder and editor of the popular Malaysia Today website is expected to be produced at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court at around 10am on Friday.

He was charged with sedition for implicating Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife in the murder of a Mongolian woman in October 2006.

Raja Petra chose to be jailed after refusing to post bail of RM5,000 (S$2,200), while awaiting his trial to begin on Oct 6.

Earlier on Thursday, Raja Petra agreed to post bail after his wife Marina Lee Abdullah met him at Sungei Buloh prison.

Ms Marina finally got to see her husband for about 10 minutes this morning, after he twice refused to meet her on Wednesday.

She said Raja Petra was fine, except for a slight back ache after spending two nights in jail. -- THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
