THE excitement of the Euro 2008 final proved too much for a Myanmar national who died soon after Spain scored the solitary goal in the match, according to Utusan Malaysia.

The man, in his 30s, was watching the match between Germany and Spain with his friends at a house in Sungai Nibong, Penang.

Timur Laut OCPD Asst Commissioner Azam Abdul Hamid said the man was cheering striker Fernando Torres' goal at 3.15am when he fell and became unconscious.

ACP Azam said the man's friends immediately alerted the police who arrived only to find him already dead.

The body was sent to the Penang Hospital for a post mortem. The case has been classified as sudden death.
