KOTA BARU, MALAYSIA: Straying cattle sparked a quarrel between two neighbours in a village here and ended with one stabbing the other to death.

The victim, Arifin Awang Hamat who is a 65-year-old grandfather, was believed to have started arguing with his neighbour after it was alleged that the latter allowed his cattle to roam into his compound in Lundang Paku here.

The neighbour flew into a rage and stabbed the victim in the neck with a sharp object. Police were summoned to the scene around 6.30pm on Friday after passers-by saw the victim lying motionless on the ground.

The neighbour, who is described by fellow villagers as a calm person, is said to have gone into hiding.
