KUALA LUMPUR: A moneychanger is in critical condition after being shot in the head and abdomen by gunmen, who fired more than 30 shots at his car in Taman Len Seng here yesterday.
Vartha Rajan Navasivayam, 43, was warded at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Cheras following the 2pm shooting.
Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Amir Mohd Hashim said Vartha Rajan had left his home in Taman Len Seng for work when two cars pulled up by his vehicle.
The gunmen opened fire with semi-automatic weapons. It is unknown how many bullets hit Vartha Rajan.
Ahmad Amir said Vartha Rajan lost control of the car and crashed into a roadside food stall.
Police have questioned several eyewitnesses. They are waiting for Vartha Rajan to be stable before recording his statement.
Police are appealing to the public to come forward and assist in their investigations.
