IPOH, MALASYIA: An 18-month-old baby girl drowned in a plastic pail at her home in Taman Tasek Dawai here on Saturday.

Irdina Nasuha Irwan Azlani was pronounced dead on arrival at the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital after the 8.30pm incident.

Ipoh deputy OCPD Supt Ibrahim Abu Bakar said the toddler's grandparents were looking after her while her parents were in the bedroom when the incident occurred.

"When she suddenly disappeared, the grandmother went looking and found her in the bathroom with her head inside the pail of water," he said yesterday.

A post-mortem would be conducted today before her remains are sent to Pasir Mas in Kelantan for burial.
