Actress' hubby: I ran away because of loan sharks

>THE husband of a local actress has come out from hiding to tell how a loan of about RM50,000 from 31 loan sharks escalated into RM300,000.

Mohd Yazli Yaacob, 38, who is married to Wan Nor Azlin Wan Mohd Husain, decided to end his two-month "disappearance" and openly apologised to his wife and three children after the loan sharks splashed paint on their house in Damansara on July 30, reported Harian Metro yesterday.

"I did not intend for this to happen, nor did I want to abandon my family. I just needed time to settle the loans," he said in tears.

Mohd Yazli said he borrowed from the loan sharks to pay off loans that he stood as guarantor for a few business partners.

He said the loan amount was between RM30,000 and RM50,000 but the sum ballooned to RM300,000 with interest. He claimed the loan sharks forced him to pay interest of RM5,000 a day.

Mohd Yazli said he had paid RM300,000 to them in the past few months but was disheartened as the amount never seemed to get less.

He also claimed that he was harassed by a group of gangsters called Gang Aceng, which he had paid RM30,000 for protection.

He said they did not protect him or his family but instead continued to ask for payment until he surrendered his Hyundai Matrix when he could not pay them and they confiscated his Mercedes-Benz last Friday when he refused to pay them.
