TANJUNG LANGSAT, MALAYSIA - The fire that ravaged two fuel storage tanks at the Tanjung Langsat Port in Iskandar Malaysia has finally been put out, 67 hours after it first started.

The fire, believed to have caused tens of millions of ringgit in losses, was put out at 2pm yesterday.

No death or injury was reported.

The fire, which broke out around 6.45pm on Sunday at a storage tank containing 17.8 million litres of gasoline, spread to an adjacent tank containing eight million litres of highly-flammable Naphtha at around 7.10pm the following day.

The fire in the Naphtha tank was put out at around 9.30pm on Tuesday.

Around 500 firemen and 14 fire engines from six states were involved in the operation to put out the blaze.

The fuel belonged to Swiss commodities trader Trafigura Pte Ltd, which leased the tanks at the port.

The cause of the blaze had yet to be determined but Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Roslan Zainuddin has ruled out sabotage.
