MALAYSIA: THE Home Ministry had ordered border security to be tightened in view of the situation in Thailand, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heong told the daily that the ministry had ordered the authorities at the country's northern border checkpoints to take preventative measures.

He also advised Malaysians not to enter Thailand for the time being.

Immigration director-general Datuk Mahmood Adam said checkpoints at the Malaysian-Thai border were operating as normal.

Nevertheless, he said the department was ready if Malaysians in Thailand have to return home.
