Man hurt in panther attack

KUANTAN, MALAYSIA: A panther attacked and seriously injured a 49-year-old man in an orchard in Kampung Bukit Batu, Panching, yesterday.

Abdul Razak Halim of Batu 12, Jalan Gambang, was looking for petai with Mohd Zani Wahab, 42, when the panther attacked them at 11am.

"We arrived on a motorcycle and heard the panther's roars. It then rushed out of some bushes at Razak," said Mohd Zani of Kampung Batu, Panching.

He said Razak fell when the panther jumped on him. Zani himself was injured when the panther mauled his hands when he tried to stop the attack.
