'Bomb my house if you have to'

MANJUNG, MALAYSIA: "Demolish my house if you can't safely detonate the bomb."

That request was made by house owner Kamarudin Johari, 40, to the police, after a World War 2 bomb was found underneath his house at Kampung Batu Tiga, Segiri, on Sunday.

"I told them that if it was too much trouble (to safely detonate the bomb), just demolish the front portion of the house where the bomb lies underneath.

"They said that they would arrange sandbags around the bomb to contain the blast and limit the damage," he said yesterday.

Police said that the bomb would have to be detonated at the site as it was dangerous to move it.

Kamarudin said he did not know where his late father got the bomb.

In fact, the family was not even told about it.

"All these years the bomb was lying next to gardening equipment, pieces of wood, pipes and some construction material."
