KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Wee Meng Chee, aka Namewee, is being questioned by police over the controversial Negara-ku rap video he released on video-sharing network youtube last year.

He travelled from his hometown of Muar this morning to see police officers from the Cybercrime unit of the Commercial Crimes division.

The 25-year-old mass communication graduate from Taiwan?s Ming Chuan University became the talk of the town when his video, in which he rapped in Hokkien over the national anthem, caused an uproar.

Several quarters condemned him for mocking the national anthem, and asked that he be detained under the Sedition Act.

Wee, who denied he made the video with any ill intention, issued a public apology.
