MALAYSIA - A 61-YEAR-OLD grandmother was fined RM6,000 for assisting in an abortion for an Indonesian woman, which subsequently resulted in her death, reported Sinar Harian.

Wong Ah Kean pleaded guilty to the charge of deliberately aborting Fitriani's baby at 11am on July 15 last year.

The incident took place at the Sui On Medical Hall Clinic, 84 TB, Jalan Hang Kasturi.

Wong was paid RM700 to abort Fitriani's three-month-old foetus. She inserted five plastic tubes in the victim's vagina and told her to rest.

The next day, Wong tried to take out the tubes using a metal tweezer, causing massive blood loss.

At 5pm that day, the victim died. The post-mortem revealed the cause of death as blood loss and complications during pregnancy.

Wong is a former clinic assistant with midwifery experience.
