KUALA LUMPUR: A waitress claimed trial in a Sessions court here to cheating a manager over a Rolex watch.
Leow Nyet Chin, 53, is alleged to have duped manager Lee See Men by inducing her into believing that the Visa credit card which she handed over to her in the name of a Margaret Choo was genuine.
It was for the purpose of paying for a Rolex watch worth RM40,000.
Leow was said to have committed the offence at Milan Classic Enterprise in Cheras at 6.30pm on Sept 18.
Judge S.M. Komathy Suppiah granted her bail at RM8,000 in one surety and set Oct 30 for mention.
Leow's friend posted her bail later.
In the same court, an Indonesian contractor pleaded not guilty to having four counterfeit RM50 notes.
Darlis Hasim, 34, who has permanent resident status, is alleged to have committed the offence in front of a shop at Wisma Rampai in Wangsa Maju at 11.30pm on Sept 26.
Prosecuting officer Chief Insp R. Rukumar asked the court to set his bail at RM15,000 in two sureties.
Pleading for lower bail, Darlis contended that he did not know that the money was forged.
"My friend gave me the money to re-pay his debts," he contended.
Darlis asked the court to consider that he had to take care of his three school-going children and an eight-months pregnant wife.
He said he lost his passport 15 years ago and did not lodge a police report over the matter.
Komathy set his bail at RM15,000 in two local sureties and fixed Oct 30 for mention pending the appointment of a lawyer for him.
He failed to post his bail and was taken to Sungai Buloh prison later.
