MALAYSIA, KUALA LUMPUR: While heated arguments between the prosecution and defence went on in the courtroom yesterday, a commotion occurred outside between a supporter of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and a man alleged to be a media representative.

As press photographers waited outside, the two men suddenly went at each other, kicking and punching.

The incident at around 11.30am took those outside the courtroom by surprise as there was no squabble prior to the fight.

About 10 policemen broke the fight and took the men to separate rooms.

About 40 minutes later, the two returned and smiled at the press.

"Everything is settled," said one of them.

When asked what had happened, the man who claimed he was from the media smiled and said: "I tripped and fell."

Reporters, however, did not let up.

When pressed further, the man, who was wearing a media tag claiming he was from Astro Awani, refused to say what caused the outburst.

When contacted, Astro Awani general manager Rozina Aziz said the station did not send any reporter, cameramen or personnel to cover Anwar's trial yesterday.

"Nobody from Awani was involved in the incident," she added.
