MALAYSIA, IPOH: A 39-year-old man armed with a parang died after unsuccessfully trying to rob two sisters at their house in Taman Harmoni, Kampung Rapat, here yesterday.

Ipoh City deputy police chief Superintendent Idris Abdullah said the man sustained stomach and hand injuries during a struggle with the women and tried to flee, but collapsed and died about 20 metres from the scene.

In the 11.30pm incident, the women, aged 45 and 55, had returned home after closing their restaurant when they stumbled upon the man inside their house who demanded money, Idris said. The man pointed a parang at one of the victims and ordered her to keep quiet.

But one of the sisters fought back and in the ensuing struggle, the man sustained injuries to his stomach and hand, while the woman also injured her hand, he added.

"The other woman screamed for help and her younger brother, who was outside the house, rushed in to help the sister who was struggling with the intruder."

On seeing the brother, the man tried to flee from the scene but collapsed and died due to his injuries.

He had no previous convictions but was a drug addict, Idris said.
