Ah Longs threatened me and my daughter

KUALA LUMPUR: Three women whose partners owed money to Ah Longs have appealed to the loan sharks not to harm them as they are innocent parties.

Lim, 48, a teacher in Kuala Lumpur, said her 52-year-old ex-partner, a sub-contractor, ran away from home on Sept 30 and she did not know that he had turned to borrowing money again.

"The Ah Longs are threatening me and my 19-year-old daughter," she said.

Lim, who previously helped her partner to settle an RM80,000 debt, said he had borrowed money from Ah Longs to support his gambling habit.

MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong said he had negotiated with the Ah Longs to reduce his debt from RM134,000 to RM80,000 and he had then promised that he would not borrow from Ah Longs again.

Sow, 42, a housewife from Seremban, said she did not realise that her husband had borrowed from Ah Longs until he ran away from home.

"The Ah Longs threw stacks of brochures of their company into my house, chained my gate and splashed red paint at my house at midnight," she said.

Wong, 41, also told how her husband, who ran a printing shop, had broken his promise not to borrow from Ah Longs.

Chong said he had told some Ah Longs not to lend to these men because they were unable to pay back.
