KOTA BARU, MALAYSIA - Mawi will present the family of his fiancee Nora Ashikin Rahmat or Ekin a wedding dowry (mas kahwin) worth RM30,000 (S$12,600) when they marry in December.

Speaking to the media here ahead of his performance at the Maxis' Hari Raya open house, the popular Akademi Fantasia star was "forced" by reporters to reveal the amount with actress Ekin seated nearby.

A packed crowd turned up at the open house at Dewan Jubilee Perak on Saturday with the guests eager to get more details of the marriage from the artistes themselves.

Apart from Mawi, the crowd was also entertained by Stacy, winner of this year's Akademi Fantasia.

Maxis Communications Berhad east coast region head Mazlan Mokhtar said the company was happy to bring Mawi for the occasion.

'The open house in Kota Baru concludes our series of Hari Raya open houses, which started in Alor Star on Oct 11.

'The open houses are our way of rewarding loyal customers,' he said.

Mawi, who had courted Ekin, 29, since February last year, said he proposed to her on the telephone from Syria while filming his travelogue series "Mawi Di Bumi Anbia."
