KLANG, MALAYSIA: An illegal tofu factory was raided by enforcement officers from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) and Department of Environment yesterday.

The factory at Batu 31/2, Jalan Kapar, had been churning out tofu between 7pm and 7am for the last two years in unhygienic conditions.

The factory owner, however, had only been fined RM500 previously.

MPK licensing director Azhar Samsudin said they raided the premises after receiving complaints from the public about the unhygienic conditions.

He said the factory operated at night to avoid detection.

"We have given him 14 days to clean up the factory. If he fails to do this, we will shut the factory down."
