Mum worries over children missing since Sunday

JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA: A 43-year-old housewife is worried about her two missing teenage children.

Gan Gek Heok said that daughter Song Koh Sim, 14,(left) and son Song Jia Oi, 13, (right) did not come home since they left for church at about 7.30am on Sunday.

Yesterday, she received an SMS from her daughter, saying that they were planning to rescue a friend from an abusive mother.

"She told me that she is planning to go to Penang, along with her brother and her friend.

"She said that she is going to stay at another friend's home there," she said, in between sobs.

Gan said she didn't understand her children's behaviour, as they had never acted like this before.

"They left home without packing any clothing or money.

"I am very worried about what could have happened to them," she said at a press conference held by Johor MCA Youth Public Service and Complaints Bureau deputy chief Rodney Soon yesterday.

She explained that her children were very good students, with a good disciplinary record at school.

"I never expected them to act this way. I am still shocked. All I want is for them to come home," she said.

Soon appealed to anyone with information on the children to call him at 019-7713912.
