A 67-YEAR-OLD woman in Muar has waited 40 years for her husband to return home after walking out following a disagreement with her brother.
Fatimah Abdul Hamid, whose husband Mohd Said Manaf abandoned her in 1970, told Utusan Malaysia that she continued to pray that they would meet again someday.
"I still hope he will return although I have had no news of him for more than 40 years. I have no idea where he has been all this time," said the senior citizen, who went to the Malay daily's office to relate her story.
Fatimah said she was convinced that Mohd Said, who is from Selangor, was still alive and that she would continue with her efforts to trace him despite many failures.
"I am still his wife because he has never told me that he was divorcing me. That's why I hope to see him," she said, adding that they had one son, who has since died.
Fatimah, who is unemployed and living with her son's family in Taman Desa, Sungai Abong, said she married Mohd Said and lived with him in Jalan Khalidi back in the 1960s.
"My husband used to serve in the army but I don't know his rank. I only know that he has two sisters Aminah and Sainah, and they used to live in Kuala Selangor," she said.
