Trio ready to swim Malacca Straits and English Channel

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Three Malaysians, including 12-year-old Salman Ali Shariati Abdul Halim, will embark on a challenge to swim across the Straits of Malacca and English Channel to promote world peace and unity.

Salman, his sister Zahra Ma'soumah, 18, and Mount Everest conqueror Muhammad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, 27, will take on the challenge under the Phase Three of the Seven Continents, Seven Values extreme expedition jointly organised by the Malaysian Seven Continents Exploration Club and ESQ Learning Center Sdn Bhd.

Speaking at the expedition's launch at Dewan Perdana Felda last night, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said everybody could learn from the trio's spirit in making the impossible a reality.

The trio will cross the Straits of Malacca on Dec 30 and swim 50km across the English Channel in June.
