SANDAKAN, MALAYSIA: A 23-year-old man who hogged the microphone during a karaoke session here was stabbed to death by angry customers.

Abdul Sani Doli was stabbed by customers at a coffeeshop-cum-karaoke outlet at Lebuh Tiga road on Wednesday night when a fight broke out after he refused to give up the microphone and continued singing.

The exchange of blows continued into the street where one of three assailants stabbed him. Abdul Sani staggered a short distance before collapsing in front of a machinery shop. He died at 11.55pm.

Sandakan district police chief Asst Comm Rosli Mohd Isa said police have classified the case as murder and two people have been detained to assist in investigations.

Abdul Sani's body was sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for a post-mortem.
