FORMER Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohamad, known for his authoritarian streak while in office, favours keeping the blogosphere as open as possible.

"As long as you don't threaten to kill people in your blog, there should not be any censorship," he said at a book-signing event in Kuala Lumpur.

However, as a blogger himself, he did urge others to "make fair comments in their articles".
