Rembau, Malaysia: A woman and her 17-year-old daughter were killed in a freak accident after their motorcycle was hit and dragged by a 16-wheel trailer lorry laden with fertiliser at a junction near Seri Kendung, Kota, here yesterday.

In the 7.45am incident, Tuti Sharioh, 48, and Noridah Mohd Din,17, were from their Rumah Rakyat Kendong house heading towards Seri Kendung to open their food stall.

A police spokesman said it was believed that the lorry, heading to Seremban from Tampin, had tried to avoid a car at the junction.

"The vehicle skidded and hit the car before crashing into the motorcycle, causing Noridah to be thrown off the motorcycle while Tuti was dragged for 30m."

It is learnt that electricity supply at Seri Kendung was disrupted after the lorry rammed into two electricity poles in the crash. --NST
