>KUALA LUMPUR - All but one of the 26 revellers picked up during an alleged "sex party" on New Year's Day were released on Saturday.
Eight, including a female newscaster and a part-time actress-cum-scriptwriter, were released on police bail pending results of the tests on their blood samples from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, expected to be out in two weeks.
The rest were released unconditionally after having their statements recorded.
City police Narcotics Department chief Assistant Commissioner Kang Chez Chiang said a 25-year-old man, one of nine who tested positive for Ecstasy and ketamine in initial urine tests, had been detained further.
"We believe he could have supplied the drugs found during the raid. We will refer him to the deputy public prosecutor for further action."
All those freed on Saturday were released from the Dang Wangi police headquarters about 7pm.
The newscaster, Farahrizan Abdul Razak, 22, is a popular face on the 24-hour news channel Astro Awani. It was learnt that she is due to tie the knot next week.
It is believed she told the police that the party was meant to be her "bachelorette party" before she got hitched.
The 26 people, aged between 18 and 31, were picked up about 3.30am on Thursday, at a serviced apartment in Jalan P. Ramlee here, where a sex party allegedly took place.
Police found liquor and ketamine, Ecstasy and syabu in the 11th floor unit. They also found unused condoms.
Police have since dropped sex charges against the 26 as investigations revealed no sex party had taken place.
It was reported that those who attended the party, including college students, knew each other through Friendster, a social networking site on the Internet.
It was also reported that the group had met earlier at a nightspot in Mont Kiara before adjourning to the serviced apartment.
