KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: The Home Ministry had given its assurance that the scandal involving Elizabeth Wong would be investigated.
Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said at the moment, it was too early for the police to determine who was responsible.
"She has lodged a police report with us, so let the police conduct its investigation," he said at the Parliament lobby yesterday after attending the opening of the Parliament session.
He advised political parties to have a proper vetting system in place when choosing candidates.
"You will have all these problems if you simply recruit people."
To a question on whether Wong was a victim in this incident, Syed Hamid said: "I do not know. You may take naked photos at your home, but you must make sure the public does not get it," he said.
Meanwhile, police are looking into the possibility that the victim's 37-year-old former boyfriend may be responsible for circulating pictures of her.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Arjunaidi Mohamad said details were vague. Arjunaidi said police and Wong had yet to see the pictures that had been circulating.
Arjunaidi said Wong was informed by a reporter on Sunday that pictures of her were being circulated which prompted her to lodge a report.
"All we know is that the pictures are of her sleeping."
