>KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be sworn in as the sixth prime minister before Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at 10am today. His appointment has received the consent of the king, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan said yesterday.
Najib will take his oath of office, loyalty and confidentiality and be presented his letter of appointment by the king.
Following the ceremony at Istana Negara, Najib will proceed to the National Mosque for Friday prayers and visit his late father's grave at Makam Pahlawan.
His father, Tun Razak Hussein, was the second prime minister. He died of leukaemia while in office in 1976.
Outgoing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will officially hand over the power of office to Najib at a ceremony at the Prime Minister's Office at 4pm in Putrajaya.
The ceremony will also include the symbolic act of Abdullah clocking out of office for the last time while being sent off by Najib.
Najib will then return to his Jalan Duta residence for evening prayers and tahlil, before returning to his new office in Putrajaya for his address to the nation.
His speech, which will be televised live at 8.10pm, is expected to touch on the "One Malaysia" concept.
He hinted during a visit to Chinese daily Sin Chew Daily that his "One Malaysia" speech would focus on the fact that everyone belonged to the "Malaysian community".
It is believed that he would pledge to be a leader who would look at things not from a racial perspective but from a Malaysian perspective.
"I will convince the Malay community to accept such a concept instead of stressing ketuanan Melayu. I believe the Malay community would eventually accept this concept," Najib had said.
It is believed that he would also announce the appointment of Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as deputy prime minister during his speech.
